This is an opportunity to be part of a high-performing unit providing quality materials, services and advice to support state school students, teachers and leadership teams. In this dynamic environment, your ability to quickly adapt to evolving demands and priorities, combined with strategic planning and governance, will be essential in assisting Digital and Virtual Learning teams to achieve strategic objectives and deliverables, while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes.
This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 31 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. Base location of this role is Central Office, Brisbane.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and contributing to the strategic direction and activities related to D&VL, as well as the team's operations.
- Leading a team to deliver high-quality governance, project results, departmental briefings and responses to departmental requests.
- Providing high level advice and support to senior officers of D&VL and other senior officers within the Reviews, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (RCTL) Branch on policy and strategy relating to state schooling, including the ongoing delivery of Equity and Excellence and system initiatives.
- Leading policy work to support the department's digital and virtual ecosystem, including the Schools of Distance Education and the Queensland Virtual Academy.
- Liaising with other RCTL teams and other branches to oversee and deliver priorities.
- Building positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing advice and guidance for regions and state schools.
- Managing the preparation and review of briefing material, correspondence, reports and workshops on issues related to D&VL at state and national levels.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by sharing expertise, mentoring colleagues, and leveraging digital technologies to enhance project delivery.
About You
The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:
- Ability to manage a small team providing support for digital and virtual learning initiatives.
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and an ability to apply whole-of-government perspectives.
- A track record in achieving high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive or high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
