Applications are invited for a Principal Policy Officer position within the Autism Hub and Student Inclusion team to provide expert advice and support on strategic policy issues to ensure the achievement of outcomes against key priorities for strengthening student engagement, wellbeing and achievement. About the Role
As the Principal Policy Officer, Student Inclusion, you will work across portfolio areas in the Diversity, Disability and Inclusion team. In this role, applicants will be required to:
- Provide advice on the application of key departmental policies and procedures in matters of finance, human resources and record management.
- Write Ministerial, DG and DDG/ADG responses to correspondence within tight timeframes and provide timely, accurate responses to OADG requests.
- Design high quality resource documents for distribution/publication.
- Create infographic summaries of data sets and research translation.
- Write contracts and contract variations.
- Conduct and manage procurement and tender processes.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Software an advantage.
About You
Applicants will demonstrate all of the following:
- A record of leadership and team project management skills and proven capacity to develop strategic policy, guidelines and implementation strategies
- High level research and analytical skills, with a proven ability to initiate, implement, monitor and report on complex projects within set timeframes.
- Record of contribution to and achievement of, strategies and initiatives to support the achievement of work unit outcomes including the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of best practice, legislation, policies and trends in improving outcomes for students with disability, student inclusion, behaviour or student wellbeing, with a proven ability to prepare related reports and submissions at a senior level.
- Exceptional writer and consultation skills to present messages in a clear and concise manner, with the ability to apply negotiation and consultation skills to contribute to collaborative solutions and implement appropriate strategic responses.
