The Financial Business Systems unit are looking for someone who is dynamic, eager to learn and push the envelope when it comes to achieving results and delivering outcomes.
We are seeking a Senior SQL/BI Developer with at least 5 years of relevant work experience to join our MSBI Team.
This role will design, develop and implement data-driven solutions, ensuring data quality while delivering high-quality BI requirements.

About the Department:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in technical database and application administration support of applications and analyse business requirements and provide design guidance and advice.
  • Ensure that developments adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle, including specification, code development, unit testing and applying existing standards and change and release management practices.
  • Assist with technical database, analysis, design, implementation and applications administration support services.
  • Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data from a variety of source systems using SQL, oData, and SSIS.
  • Design star schema reporting models using contemporary Kimball based dimensional modelling techniques.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using the SSRS and Power BI and thoroughly unit test all developments.
  • Provide technical guidance on the best technology and approach that should be taken when enhancing or designing new solutions.
  • Be proactive in terms of identifying potential problems and possible solutions to those problems in an open and collaborative manner.
  • Build all developments using the standards and practises supported by the department ensuring adherence to the department's Incident and Change and Release Management procedures.
  • Thoroughly document developments in a manner that allows for an understanding of the components of developments by both technical and non-technical staff.

This role reports to the SAP Technical Manager, Financial Business Systems, Financial Services, Finance, Procurement and Facilities Division.

About You:

  • Highly desirable to have a minimum 5 years' experience in developing and designing MSBI solutions.
  • Highly desirable to have a degree or post graduate qualification in information technology.
  • An advocate for best practices and business process optimisation and improvement to support the business and Corporate clients within the Department of Education.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, able to work closely with the other team members, functional analysts, and business stakeholders to support the departmental initiatives.
