Your Role:

As the Manager you will be part of team which is accountable for the delivery of the Department's statewide fortnightly payroll.

There are three Manager positions in Payroll Services which report to the Director, Payroll Servcies. Two positions are located in Education House, Brisbane City the other is located at Mt Gravatt.

This position vacancy is located at Mt Gravatt (located just across from Garden City shopping centre).

Note: this recruitment process may be used for any future vacancies in either location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the delivery and quality of HR and payroll services to ensure alignment with departmental strategy and effective support for over 90,000 employees.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure payroll operations and services meet business needs and reflect best-practice improvements.
  • Provide expert advice on complex payroll matters while proactively identifying and managing compliance and financial risk.
  • Inspire and guide a payroll team to deliver timely, accurate, and integrated services that meet departmental goals.
  • Support workforce performance and engagement through strategic payroll solutions, inclusive practices, and continuous service improvement.

About You

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Ability to manage a large team providing support through periods of significant change.
  • A track record in providing payroll services in a large, complex or high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to respond to changing demands and priorities.
  • Leadership skills in creating and maintaining effective teams, driving performance and achieving effective service delivery.
