About the Role:

As a Senior Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering Network Hardware and Structured Communications Cabling infrastructure solutions for an extensive portfolio of ICT Infrastructure Projects. Every year, the Department delivers projects across its vast network of 1280+ State School sites. You will be instrumental in ensuring that these projects on in full, on cost and in time to bring about and maintain a reliable ICT infrastructure environment for schools and corporate offices.

You will assist the Project and Program Managers in collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders including Suppliers, to manage the end-to-end delivery of ICT infrastructure projects into the Department of Education sites. The role covers the entire Project Delivery lifecycle.

About You:

To be successful in this role, it would be highly desirable that you will have many or all of the following key characteristics and attributes:

  • Capacity to support complex ICT projects including the timely delivery of relevant project control documents and registers, project plans and progress reports against project objectives.
  • Capable of prioritising, scheduling, and performing work to meet deadlines, commitments, and client service standards including managing conflicting priorities and diverse stakeholder expectations.
  • Be a team player and support team members, with diverse skillsets, to undertake and achieve a variety of project outcomes. This includes supporting project finance and procurement specialists.
  • Be a competent communicator who can establish productive, professional relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to research and develop solutions to complex challenges, clearly document workflows and systems and achieve effective results within desired timeframes.
  • Capable of performing project-level budget management.
  • Ability to utilise modern desktop toolsets to develop bespoke reporting in an ever-evolving sponsor and stakeholder landscape. The department extensively subscribes to the Microsoft suite of desktop products. Prior experience with Microsoft Project is a plus.
  • Possessing subject matter expertise in an ICT infrastructure discipline is highly desirable.
  • Having experience delivering a pipeline of ICT change initiatives, on and end-to-end basis, in a greenfield and brownfield environment where change windows are extremely constrained.
  • Demonstrated project delivery experience, with at least 5 years' experience in support of delivering ICT infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience supporting ICT enabled projects in a complex operating environment
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of project management tools and their application including demonstrated skill in the financial, functional and technical management of project activities and the ability to support the administration of entire project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a member of a high performing team, in a complex operating environment.
