The Capability branch is located in the Schools and Student Support Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high-quality, targeted professional learning to empower staff to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to excel in their role.
About the Role:
The Senior Principal, Capability role is based in regions or central office and reports to the Assistant Director-General, Capability. A current vacancy exists in Central Queensland region, with an initial appointment commencing as soon as possible through until Friday 12 December 2025 unless otherwise determined. This recruitment process is open for a state-wide pool of successful candidates should any future vacancies arise across regions. Applications will remain current for a period of 12 months.
As a Senior Principal Capability, Education Futures Institute you will:
- Lead innovative approaches to the design, delivery and evaluation of professional development programs and learning opportunities for teachers, school leaders and staff who support teaching and learning.
- Lead and enhance the use of evidence, research, partnerships and digital innovation in ensuring teaching and learning professional development is supportive, job-embedded, collaborative and accessible across the state.
- Ensure teaching and leadership capability development is responsive to the context of each participant, school and community.
- Deliver outstanding coaching and support for school leaders that is informed by evidence and strongly aligned to workforce needs and system priorities.
Eligibility requirements:
- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.
- Employees engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.12 of the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022.
