About the Role

The Principal Project Officer (STEM) responsibilities include:

  • Manage projects that deliver the priorities of Queensland's Equity and Excellence Education Strategy.
  • Develop capability, resource and assessment packages to support implementation of Australian Curriculum version 9: Mathematics, Science and/or Technologies.
  • Design and deliver innovative learning and assessment design, in STEM curriculum areas to meet the teaching needs across the state
  • Provide educational expertise and undertake research investigations to guide and inform learning and teaching development initiatives.
  • Support emerging STEM projects delivered through the Queensland Virtual Academy and Education Futures Institute.
  • Monitor data and impact, evaluate for continual improvement, and take responsibility for governance, correspondence and reporting obligations of the department.
  • Create and foster partnerships across industry, government and education organisations to support schools to prepare students to participate in a rapidly changing world.

About You

The ideal candidates will have:

  • The ability to think creatively about current challenges and opportunities, and partner with colleagues to develop solutions, encouraging creative capacity in others to optimise outcomes for students and teachers.
  • Personal drive and integrity to lead projects and work autonomously.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and digital literacy and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy period.
  • Experience designing, delivering and leading professional development and/or training related to best practices and pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of relevant Queensland Government policies and priorities related to emerging industries.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian Curriculum: Science, Technologies or Mathematics, preferably across primary and secondary phases of learning, and knowledge of senior secondary syllabuses and processes.
  • Experience working on complex projects to achieve required outcomes within set timeframes and on budget.
