About the Role:
As the Manager, Strategic Initiatives you will work within the Strategic Initiatives and Innovation portfolio to lead diverse projects and provide expert advice and support to the Director, Rural, Remote and Strategic Initiatives and senior executives in relation to the implementation and monitoring of key programs and operations, including but not limited to the Small Schools Support Plan and K-12 Education Strategy. This role has line management responsibility for a small team.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Use a high level of independent judgement when making decisions about complex work and how resources are used, following senior executive guidelines. This includes approving spending, taking action in line with office policy, or reviewing past decisions.
- Develop guidelines, rules, procedures, or instructions for staff and other stakeholders.
- Analyse how the organisation is structured and help create strategic plans for staff and organisational development when needed.
About You:
- Strong management skills are needed to allocate resources, lead staff, create policies, and develop business strategies.
- Knowledge of financial management and the ability to assess how well programs meet their goals are usually required.
- A solid understanding of government policies and procedures, and how to apply them in office operations, is important.
- Experience in managing HR functions and developing programs for equal employment opportunity, workplace safety, and staff development is expected.
- Good communication and negotiation skills are needed to resolve complex issues and represent the office in discussions with clients or other groups.
