Are you passionate about mentoring and supporting Speech Language Pathologists and multidisciplinary team members to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and practice to enhance student learning outcomes? The Department of Education’s Therapies and Nursing Services team is establishing a recruitment pool for Senior Speech Language Pathologist (Clinical) positions.

This pool will be used to fill both permanent and temporary vacancies, of varying full-time equivalencies (FTE), that arise within 12 months of the vacancy closing date across any region in Queensland.The salary is reflective of 1.0 FTE for Senior Speech Language Pathologist HP4.

About the Department of Education:

Your Role: 

As Senior Speech Language Pathologist (Clinical), you will:

  • Support speech language pathologists to apply evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes (regionally and statewide).
  • Provide professional leadership and expert advice in specialised clinical areas of school-based speech language pathology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide training and support to other state schools speech language pathologists to build capacity and promote and ensure best practice in speech language pathology service delivery.
  • Provide professional leadership to ensure identification of appropriate response and interventions to support curriculum delivery and enhance learning outcomes for students with speech language communication difficulties.
  • Provide authoritative expert advice across the department on specific or specialised clinical areas of speech language therapy.
  • Lead and conduct specialised projects and innovative research activities relating to the delivery and continuous improvement of speech language therapy services within schools.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration networks with other school and regional team members, including speech language pathologists to facilitate knowledge and resource sharing of specific or specialised clinical areas of speech language therapy.
  • Maintain currency of high level knowledge and skills relating to the department generally, and the provision of speech language pathology services in education.

About You:

The following skills and attributes will be highly regarded:

  • Very high level of knowledge of speech language pathology services in an educational context
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work across a number of multidisciplinary teams regionally and statewide
  • Knowledge of models for coaching, capability development and principles of adult learning
