The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.
The role of Senior Project Officer is offered on a full-time temporary basis, until 31 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.
About the role
As a Senior Project Officer you will play an important role in leading and coordinating the delivery of high-quality professional learning at the nominated EFI Regional team. Current vacancies exist in Cairns, Toowoomba, Maroochydore, Nundah, Mount Gravatt and Hope Island.
Key functions of this role include:
- Leading the management, administration and coordination of capability development activities and operations across the regional team.
- Supporting and administering regional budget and HR processes, including planning and monitoring with the Director and Senior Principal Capability.
- Coordinating procurement for venues, guest speakers, catering and event requirements.
- Facilitating communications, including drafting correspondence, briefs and coordinating updates to regional and statewide communication channels
- Lead regional data and reporting in alignment with departmental requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
The Senior Project Officer reports to the Director, Capability, Education Futures Institute in each Region Education Futures Institute
The ideal applicants are individuals who:
- understand the vision and strategic directions of the Department of Education and the role of capability development within this vision
- demonstrate project management skills and the ability to drive new projects and initiatives
- demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organisation skills across a number of priorities and manage competing demands
- communicate with a high standard of written and oral communication skills
- enjoy working with a diverse team and stakeholders to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education.
