About Us

The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.

The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.

The role of Communications Officer is offered on a full-time temporary basis until 30 June 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role

The Communications Officer will:

  • Support the development of communications plans, activities and resources that support EFI flagship programs, key capability programs and deliverables.
  • Provide high-quality, professional communications services for both print and online publication that enhance the reach, engagement and impact of capability initiatives across the department.
  • Ensure that corporate identity standards, publishing procedures and the department's editorial communications standards are maintained.
  • The Communications Officer reports to the Principal Communications Officer, Capability Branch.

The ideal applicant will:

  • Be familiar with the DoE Editorial style guide, Queensland Government web writing and style guide and Australian Government style manual.
  • Have excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to liaise with a range of teams from across the department.
  • Be a collaborative team member with great attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Have visionary skills, solve problems and manage tasks from a variety of teams.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse team to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education.
