As a Teacher Aide - Braille, you will contribute to the delivery of a quality, inclusive education by providing specialist Braille support and reasonable adjustments tailored to individual student needs. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and specialist staff, you will assist students to access learning and school activities through Braille and accessible formats.

Your role

In this role you will:

  • Model reading and writing through Braille for students where Braille has been identified as a reasonable adjustment
  • Transcribe printed text, graphics and student work between print and Braille
  • Support students to engage in whole-class, group and individual learning activities using Braille materials
  • Assist with Orientation and Mobility strategies under the guidance of specialist staff
  • Produce and adapt learning materials in accessible formats
  • Provide intervention and instruction under the direction of specialist teachers - Blindness and Vision Impairment (BVI)
  • Support students' independence, wellbeing, confidence and social participation within the school environment.
