Infrastructure Services Division is seeking a School Facilities Operations Advisor to join the Maintenance Operations team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality operational advice to support safe and efficient cleaning, as well as effective grounds and facilities management across school sites.

You will be located at the Hope Island Office.

About the Role:

As the School Facilities Operations Advisor, you will report to the Manager, School Facilities Operations Team, within Infrastructure Services Division and work closely with resource management specialists, including Human Resources, to ensure the efficient delivery of services across the work unit.

The School Facilities Operations Advisor is responsible for, (but not limited to) the activities listed below.

  • Identifying and implementing evidence-based strategies in a timely way to improve the health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for Cleaners and Schools Officers, Grounds and Facilities.
  • Providing advice to schools on all issues associated with equipment, chemicals and consumable items.
  • Facilitating the delivery and scheduling of training and assisting with development of programs to school-based facilities staff including Cleaners and Schools Officers, Grounds and Facilities in relation to the department's Health, Safety and Wellness policies and procedures

What you need to succeed

Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Ability in leading and participating in teams involved in the formulation of innovative and workable solutions for security, infrastructure and planning related services.
  • Ability to provide high level advice to management and senior executive, Regional Directors and Principals on a broad range of issues.
  • Experience participating in project teams on the development, implementation, maintenance and review of programs, policies and procedures supporting high level strategic initiatives for security, infrastructure and planning related issues.
  • Providing and maintaining appropriate information from the various databases, programs and systems used by departmental officers to ensure activities promote effective use of departmental facilities and resources, including the maintenance of training records.
  • Providing advice and support to school staff in relation to safe work practices including identification and communication regarding safety hazards, grounds and facilities maintenance and management.
  • Develop annual audit programs in relation to the provision of cleaning and grounds and facilities services, undertake audit activities and communicate results and actions to school staff when required.
  • Monitoring and reporting school compliance with departmental and legal requirements in relation to the provision and auditing of chemicals and equipment utilised by Cleaners and Schools Officers, Grounds and Facilities.
  • You will also hold a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services), a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Capability to undertake travel and possess a valid driver's license.
