The Department of Education is strengthening health, safety and wellbeing across Queensland state schools and is recruiting Workplace Health and Safety Coordinators to support this work.

Building on the success of earlier implementation across schools, where principals reported improved safety practices, strengthened incident management and reduced administrative workload, these roles are being expanded to further support school leaders and staff.

This is an opportunity to work directly in school environments and make a practical, day-to-day difference. You will support secondary and primary schools to proactively manage risks, respond to incidents and strengthen rehabilitation and return to work practices through early intervention and collaboration.

Working alongside Principals and school leadership teams, you will play a key role in embedding the department's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System. You will help improve consistency in health and safety practices, enabling school leaders to focus on teaching and learning outcomes.

Support:

You will be supported through a structured Community of Practice through our central and regional subject matter experts, shared resources, drop-in sessions, and ongoing professional development to build your capability and confidence in the role.

Mandatory requirements:

A. A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
B. Ability to work across multiple school sites
C. A current Queensland Driver's Licence
