The Strategic Asset Management (SAM) Team within the Asset Management Strategy (AMS), Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Infrastructure Services Officer.
This role is critical to the strategic planning and management of the Department of
Education's physical infrastructure, which includes a $40 billion asset portfolio supporting schools, early childhood services, and environmental education centres across Queensland.
We are seeking an Asset Management professional who thinks strategically, has strong business improvement
experience, communicates effectively, and demonstrates an enthusiastic and demonstrates a positive, enthusiastic approach to change and continuous improvement.

About the Role:
As the Principal Program Officer, you will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Develop and maintain asset management strategies, systems and plans for the portfolio in line with ISO55000 standards to achieve the required business outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice on complex asset management issues to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of key asset management frameworks to support asset management maturity uplift.
- Drive the enhancement of asset management processes, analytics, and reporting to embed best practice into business as usual.
- Support the Manager to manage, coordinate and implement challenging and time constrained deliverables to achieve the Department's asset management objectives.
- Contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture by embracing continuous improvement, supporting innovation, and promoting learning and development.
- Engage and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on improving asset management capability and management practices.
About You:
To be successful in this role, it would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:
- Asset Management:
- Extensive asset management experience with a large infrastructure portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of asset management best practices, policies, frameworks, systems, and plans.
- Experience developing asset management strategies for diverse portfolios to balance cost, risk, and performance.
- Skilled in providing strategic and technical advice aligned with contemporary asset management principles.
- Experience developing and implementing asset management improvements.
- Demonstrated experience in long-term capital works planning.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in analysing and synthesising complex infrastructure issues to identify practical and innovative solutions, with a proven ability to effectively advocate for and influence the adoption of these solutions across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong ability to analyse and evaluate programs, data, and develop evidence-based strategies using various systems such as Microsoft Office, SAP and business management systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Experience in managing complex and varied stakeholder relationships.
- Strong skills in consultation and preparing high-level reports and correspondence.
- Relevant Qualification (not mandatory but highly desirable):
- Related to Asset Management (e.g., Engineering, GIS, Business, Finance) and/or technical certifications from recognised organisations such as the Asset Management Council or IPWEA.
