About the Team:
The Child Safeguarding team is a specialist statewide function within the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority. It assesses notifications, complaints and intelligence and investigates allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct in early childhood education and care services. The team works closely with regional regulatory staff, government agencies, external authorities, sector stakeholders and subject-matter experts to identify risks to children and support coordinated regulatory responses.
About the Role:
- The opportunity to work as part of a specialist child-safeguarding team within the nation's leading early childhood education and care regulator.
- Direct engagement with leading academic experts in protective behaviours and situational and contextual crime prevention.
- The opportunity to contribute to the continuing development and application of behavioural risk assessment and proportionate regulatory intervention.
- The opportunity to contribute to the Regulatory Authority's response to the Queensland Family and Child Commission's In Plain Sight report and implementation of the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
- Exposure to complex and high-risk regulatory matters with statewide significance.

Responsibilities:
It would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a regulatory, investigative, child-safeguarding or comparable human-services role.
- Demonstrated experience assessing notifications, complaints, intelligence or other information to identify risk and determine appropriate action.
- Experience conducting complex investigations, gathering and analysing evidence, interviewing witnesses and preparing defensible findings.
- Highly developed analytical and critical-reasoning skills, including the capacity to assess adult conduct, behavioural patterns, contextual risk and complex evidence.
- Demonstrated ability to translate risk assessments into lawful, evidence-based and proportionate regulatory responses.
- Sound knowledge of administrative law principles and experience interpreting and applying complex legislation.
- Experience preparing accurate, high-quality briefs of evidence, investigation reports, regulatory correspondence, decisions and recommendations.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear advice to senior officers and regulatory decision-makers.
- Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with government agencies, external authorities, sector stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
- Experience contributing to regulatory reform, policy development, priority projects and improvements to operational systems and practice.
