About the role
Permanent part time opportunity to Provide cultural support, guidance and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, patients and their carers accessing Community and Oral Health services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Liaise, engage and build positive connections and purposeful culturally safe and appropriate relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to support and facilitate their relationship with Community and Oral Health services, Metro North Health facilities and directorates.
- Assist Community and Oral Health teams to implement specific cultural gathering and feedback tools to improve client and patient communication that supports informed decision making and improved understanding of care.
- Develop and/actively participate in culturally appropriate community engagement and consultation processes, including but not limited to the COH Yarning Circle.
- Build effective working relationships with community partnership organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled organisations to co-design and co-partner on health initiatives that benefit the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Participate in relevant committees and groups as requested by the Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
