About the role

This recruitment aims to fill various short term vacancies across the multiple services within Community and Oral Health, Metro North.

The purpose of this role is to apply Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of clients in the local population in order to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life.

This position may include providing high quality Occupational Therapy services in a rehabilitation, aged care, interim care, community Acute/Post-Acute or chronic disease management context. Occupational Therapy positions in Community and Oral Health are based in community teams, residential facilities and subacute care units.

Standard working hours are from 0800 to 1630 hours Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, and with some variances in start/finish times dependent on the clinical alignment. Employment within Post-acute Care and Hospital in the Home requires rostered weekend work including public holidays with extended hours. Upon request and consent this role may be required to work weekends in other services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Deliver routine Occupational Therapy clinical services within a multidisciplinary team under the clinical practice supervision of a more senior clinician, utilising professional knowledge, clinical skills, judgement, and problem-solving ability and in accordance with:
    • evidence-based practice
    • protocols, policies, procedures, and work instructions
    • prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Utilise effective communication and interpersonal skills to advise, work cooperatively and partner effectively with patients and their families/carers, all members of the multi-professional team, supervisors, and other relevant stakeholders to achieve optimal patient and service delivery outcomes.
  • Manage an allocated caseload using effective time management and prioritisation skills, including clinical and non-clinical responsibilities and the maintenance of accurate patient records and documentation.
