In this role, you will undertake, contribute to and support strategic, statewide and system-level projects, activities and delivery of a range of programs, including the initiatives and priorities of Better Care Together: a plan for Queensland's state-funded mental health, alcohol and other drug services to 2027.

You will be valued for your relevant knowledge, strong writing skills, and proven track record in analysing and interpreting information and data and translating it into well-informed health planning, policy or strategy. You will undertake, contribute to and support multiple projects and areas of work under the direction of the Manager and Director, MHAOD Planning and the Branch Executive.

You will provide accurate and timely advice and guidance and establish/maintain effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders including consumers, carers and families and across government and non-government sectors, while developing innovative responses to better meet the health and service needs of people with mental health and substance use disorders.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Sound conceptual, analytical, research and problem solving skills, including a proven track record in critically analysing and interpreting data and information to underpin planning, policy and strategy development in health and other intersecting portfolios.
  • Experience in management of projects, preferably in areas relevant to MHAOD strategy, policy and planning.
  • Consultation and verbal communication skills, including experience in cultivating productive working relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to develop high quality written materials, including ministerial and departmental briefings, reports and correspondence.
  • Understanding of or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the MHAOD service system and relevant policy, issues and strategic direction at a national and state level.
