We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Department - Curriculum to lead and enhance our curriculum development initiatives at Dysart State School. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and possess a strong track record in curriculum design and implementation. This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 29 June 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About Dysart State School:

Welcome to Dysart State School, situated in the coal fields of the Central Highlands. Our Western location in the Queensland tropics is a wonderful blend of country life with regional support services. Our community partnerships with the Isaac Council, BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) mining company provide additional learning opportunities for our students and staff. Our staff have a great sense of adventure and team spirit and enjoy living and teaching in a rural setting, supporting our students to be 'Dysart Dynamos' - safe, friendly, learners - across our school environment.

About the Role:

As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will:

  • Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
  • Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff       within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.

Our ideal candidate would posses the following:

  • Knowledge of and previous engagement with Australian Curriculum V9, 3 levels of planning and moderation. Our approach is one of coaching and instructional leadership.
