Farnborough State School is welcoming applications for a Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) to join our leadership team on a permanent full-time basis, to commence as soon as possible.
About the Role
As a Head of Special Education Services, you will be an integral part of our Primary teaching team, leading the delivery of a vibrant curriculum and possessing a strong knowledge of content and pedagogy in this area. You will specialise in the ability to differentiate the curriculum to the diverse learning needs of our students, particularly in the area of inclusive education and students with additional support needs.
The ideal candidate will:
- Promote an inclusive culture and practices within the school community to ensure equity and excellence for students with disability.
- Develop and support a high quality of teaching and adjustments for students with disability in accordance to related legislation and policies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with, and build teachers' capability in using data to provide effective differentiated instruction to a diverse student cohort;
- Implement research based pedagogical practices to increase student engagement;
- Lead the development and implementation of high quality of teaching and adjustments for students with disability in accordance with related legislation and policies;
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability;
- Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments;
- In conjunction with the Deputy Principal/Principal and key stakeholders develop, coordinate and implement targeted teaching intervention in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy in response to student data to support every student succeeding;
- Manage special provisions for all students with a personalised learning record and/or ICP;
- Manage allied health professionals and external agencies providing support to students;
- Articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
