Project Officer - Central Queensland Region

The Central Queensland Region, Department of Education is recruiting for two A04 Project Officer, Engagement Support positions. The Project Officers, Engagement Support will undertake activities to support the successful delivery of a project focused on identifying and supporting students between Prep and Year 9 to re-engage with education. These roles, will be responsible for contacting families of students in the compulsory schooling phase who have exited a state school without a valid destination, offering support to re-engage in schooling. The Project Officers, Engagement Support will also contribute to the Central Queensland Region's referral, triage, and administrative processes. This includes monitoring and reviewing workload progression, identifying and escalating cases where there are additional support requirements, and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.

About the Role 

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in, and undertake a designated project and organisational change activities.
  • Resolve operational problems and assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of departmental services.
  • Assist in coordinating the implementation of policies, practices and procedures, relating to the project.
  • Prepare reports and submissions on a range of specific departmental services and respond to related matters identified during the review process.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Initiate, develop, and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including parents and carers, state school principals, regional staff, government departments, non-government organisations, non-state schools, and education and training providers, to maximise re-engagement options for young people.
  • Resolve operational problems and contribute to the refinement of processes, and systems that support the efficient and effective administration of departmental services.
  • Demonstrate accountability for the execution and quality of outcomes through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.
