The Southern Coalfields Cluster of Schools is seeking a dedicated Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) to join the team starting Term 4, 2025. The cluster includes Tieri State School, Capella State School and Capella State High School, schools that work collaboratively to meet the diverse learning needs of students across the region. In this role, you will provide expert advice and guidance to principals, middle leaders, teachers and teacher aides to ensure inclusive and effective support for students with disabilities.

About The Role  

As Head of Special Education Services for the Southern Coalfields Cluster, you will play a key role in supporting Tieri State School, Capella State School and Capella State High School to meet the diverse learning needs of their students. As Head of Special Education Services, you will provide expert advice to principals, middle leaders, teachers and teacher aides on supporting students with disabilities, while building staff capability through hands-on classroom modelling and professional development. As Head of Special Education Services, you will lead the development of clear processes and policies to ensure consistent, effective support practices across the three schools. As Head of Special Education Services, you will work across the cluster each week, spending two days at Capella State High School, two days at Capella State School and one day at Tieri State School, providing tailored guidance and leadership to each school community.

Your Responsibilities 

As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
  • Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
  • Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
