The Family Support Coordinator will work across Allenstown State School and Lakes Creek State School (0.5 FTE at each site), building strong connections between families, schools, and community services to enhance student wellbeing, attendance, and learning outcomes.

The role focuses on early intervention, coordinated support, and empowering families to actively engage in their children's education.

The Family Support Coordinator will play a key role in connecting families with targeted supports and fostering thriving school communities across both sites.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen partnerships between the school, families, and community agencies to improve student attendance, engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Support families to access health, social, and community services through case management and referral pathways.
  • Use school and regional data to identify trends, monitor progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of family and student supports.
  • Build the capacity of teachers and staff to engage effectively with vulnerable students and families through coaching and collaboration.
  • Facilitate early intervention programs, including transition-to-school initiatives, attendance improvement strategies, and wellbeing partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting children, families, and communities within education, youth, or human services settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality across diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Excellent organisational, data management, and record-keeping skills.
  • Current Blue Card and Working with Children Check.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, social work, psychology, or community services.
  • Familiarity with Department of Education systems and local inter-agency networks, including NDIS, Child Safety, CQID, and Anglicare.
  • Experience facilitating parent engagement programs, wellbeing initiatives, or community partnerships.
