About the Role

As a Youth Worker at Sarina State High School, you will play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing, attendance, and engagement. You will work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and external agencies to create a positive and inclusive school environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong, professional relationships with students, families, staff, and external support agencies.
  • Monitoring attendance to identify early signs of disengagement and implementing intervention strategies.
  • Providing support to students at risk of leaving school early through practical assistance, guidance, and referrals.
  • Delivering programs and activities that enhance students' social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Conducting home visits to strengthen school-home connections and support families.

This role would suit someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives and fostering a supportive school culture.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience working with adolescents facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and address early signs of disengagement in students.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and managing data.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic school environment.
