This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Education Futures Institute (EFI) in the Queensland Department of Education.
The EFI is a key system initiative in the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student, to empower departmental staff, educators, school and system leaders to build professional expertise through high quality, targeted capability development across their career.
This position is in the Central Queensland Region (CQR) Education Futures Institute team based in Rockhampton and will lead administrative, organisational and corporate functions to support a dynamic team in the delivery of high-quality capability development.

The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.
The role of Project Officer is offered on a full-time temporary basis, until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined.
About the role
As a Project Officer (Capability), you will play an important role in leading and coordinating the delivery of high-quality professional learning at the Rockhampton Regional Office.
You will work as an integral member of your regional team and play a key role in liaising and providing outstanding customer service for staff and teams in schools and across the region.
Key functions of this role include:
- Lead the processes for event management from procurement administration to communications and negotiations with external partners to support the delivery of capability programs
- Coordinate booking, travel and financial activities including corporate card payments and reconciliations, using appropriate software programs and adhering to departmental standards
- Liaise with senior management, team members and colleagues in the department and other external stakeholders to ensure the provision of high-quality administrative support functions
- Lead organisational and executive support including scheduling, communications and correspondence, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The Project Officer reports to the Director Capability, Education Futures Institute in each relevant regional location.
The ideal applicant is someone who:
- Has outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Brings high level organisation and proactive skills to prioritise and manage tasks
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Content Manager and MS Teams; exposure to SAP would be beneficial.
- Enjoys working with a diverse team to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education.
