The Department of Education are looking for school based social workers for the Central Queensland Region.

Full time availability is preferred but part time positions may be negotiated for the right candidate.

This position will be based at Waraburra State School and also service other schools in the local area.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Who We Are:

The Student Wellbeing Workforce aims to ensure every Queensland primary and secondary state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school. The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Workforce program work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students.

This is a school-based position and travel may be a required element of the role.

Students currently completing their studies are also welcome to apply but will not be interviewed until their university course is completed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with school based teams to support student wellbeing through both individual, group and whole school wellbeing programs;
  • Maintaining a data base of intervention supports
  • Providing professional development opportunities for teachers and parents around mental health interventions and supports;
  • Follow your professional code of ethics to maintain privacy and confidentiality of student information.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Possession of tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
