About the Role

An exciting acting opportunity is available for a Deputy Principal at Blackall State School. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal to support the leadership and day-to-day operations of the school while strengthening teaching, learning and student wellbeing across the P-12 setting.

This role will also support whole-school priorities, including consistent teaching practices, positive behaviour processes, and strong learning outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the leadership of teaching and learning across the P-12 school.
  • Assist with implementing curriculum, assessment and moderation processes.
  • Provide coaching, feedback and professional support to staff.
  • Support student wellbeing and behaviour processes.
  • Contribute to school improvement planning and priority initiatives.
  • Assist with coordinating daily school operations where required.
  • Build strong relationships with staff, students, families and the broader community.

 What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Current teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum implementation and assessment practices.
  • Ability to support and coach teachers to improve classroom practice.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to building positive relationships within a school community.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in a middle leadership role such as Head of Department or Acting Deputy Principal.
  • Experience working within a rural or regional school context.
  • Understanding of departmental processes within Education Queensland.
  • Experience supporting senior schooling and pathway planning.
