Clinton State School is seeking an experienced and passionate Community Education Counsellor (Identified) to join our beautiful school. Our School has a strong connection with all families within our community.

The Community Education Counsellor role is highly valued and plays a critical role in ensuring positive links with families. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to thrive educationally, socially, and culturally. You will contribute to stronger school-community partnerships while helping create culturally safe and inclusive learning environments.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.80FTE), 58 hours per fortnight.

About the Role:

  • Provide educational counselling and support services within schools to ensure that the best possible assistance services are available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families and communities.
  • Provide cross cultural awareness training to the broader school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational counselling, advocacy, and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and families.
  • Develop and deliver programs that promote student engagement, participation, and educational success.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with families, community organisations, and support services.
  • Promote understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, perspectives, and protocols within the school community.
  • Provide cultural advice and support to school leaders and staff.
  • Coordinate and utilise school-based programs and resources that support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Ensure culturally relevant information and resources are accessible across the school community.
  • Strengthen collaboration and positive relationships between students, families, schools, and communities.
