Moranbah State High School is looking for a school-based psychologist to support both the high school and primary schools in the community.

This is a full-time temporary position for semester 2 2026, unless otherwise determined. Provisional psychologists are welcome to apply. Relocation costs can be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role:

The Student Wellbeing Workforce is about making sure every Queensland primary and secondary state school student has access to meaningful wellbeing support, right where they need it — at school.

In this role:

  • You'll work directly with students experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns, providing early intervention and therapeutic support that can make a real difference to their learning, engagement, and everyday wellbeing.
  • You'll be part of the school's established student support team, working collaboratively with educators and other professionals to strengthen the support around each child and young person.

This position is well suited to provisional psychologists and early-career psychologists, with structured supervision provided. Supervision toward the internship program and clinical registrar program can also be supported. 

This is a school-based position and travel may be a required element of the role. Travel to the following school will be required.

  • Moranbah State High School - 0.50FTE
  • Moranbah East State School - 0.25FTE
  • Moranbah State School - 0.25FTE

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide therapeutic support for students with mild to moderate mental health support needs.
  • Work collaboratively with school-based teams to support student wellbeing through both individual, group and whole school wellbeing programs;
  • Maintaining adequate records and track data as required
  • Providing professional development opportunities for teachers and parents around mental health interventions and supports;
  • Follow your professional code of ethics to maintain privacy and confidentiality of student information.

Applicants are required to have:

  • Knowledge of case formulation and intervention models
  • Clear therapeutic framework and professional practice strategies
