We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Schools Officer - Grounds and Facilities to support the effective operation and presentation of our school. Reporting to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate, you will play an important role in maintaining our grounds, facilities, equipment, and resources to a high standard.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will enjoy working outdoors, taking pride in improving the school environment, and providing practical support that makes a difference to students, staff, and visitors.

About our School:

Taranganba State School, located in Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast of Central Queensland, is a large and welcoming primary school catering for approximately 675 students from Prep to Year 6. Established in 1992, the school provides a supportive learning environment where staff, families, and the wider community work together to achieve positive outcomes for students. With specialist programs in Health and Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Wellbeing, along with inclusive teaching practices and diverse extracurricular opportunities, students are supported to grow academically, socially, and personally. The school features modern facilities including a digital learning centre and Performing Arts Centre, enhancing learning experiences and opportunities for all students.

About the Role:

  • As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.
  • You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain school grounds, gardens, sporting facilities, and outdoor areas.
  • Complete routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of school facilities and equipment.
  • Support school operations through deliveries, stock management, event setup, and general duties.
  • Maintain a safe environment through hazard reporting, equipment care, and WHS compliance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and liaise with contractors and suppliers as required.
  • Assist with security, asset management, and facility improvement activities.
  • Support grounds enhancement projects, landscaping, and sustainable school practices.

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
