We are seeking an inspiring, strategic and highly collaborative Deputy Principal to join our school leadership team and make a meaningful difference to the lives and learning of students with diverse and complex needs. With a strong commitment to equity, inclusion and high
expectations, the Deputy Principal will build staff capability, lead continuous improvement, support effective student and behaviour support practices, and ensure school programs and resources respond to the individual strengths and needs of students.
This is an exciting
opportunity for an exceptional educational leader who is passionate about empowering students, developing people and building a safe, inclusive and high-performing school community. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 21 January 2027.

Rockhampton Special School provides individualised education programs for student with disabilities both in the school setting and in the wider community.

About the Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Provide strategic and values-based leadership alongside the Principal to develop and implement a shared vision focused on high-quality learning, inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for every student.
- Lead a culture of high expectations, equity and social justice, promoting ethical practice and ensuring students and staff are supported to achieve their full potential within a safe, inclusive and respectful school environment.
- Provide effective leadership and continuity of school operations, deputising for the Principal when required and supporting strategic planning, decision-making, policy implementation and continuous school improvement.
- Build strong partnerships and collaborative networks with students, families, staff, government agencies, community organisations, industry and other stakeholders to strengthen student outcomes, engagement and pathways.
- Lead strategically and manage resources effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies while aligning human, financial, facilities and educational resources with school priorities and future-focused goals.
