What you'll do
The HR Business Intelligence (HRBI) team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of critical HR data and reporting solutions for the Department of Health. We are seeking a proven and skilled Principal HR Data Engineer to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will leverage technologies such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks, alongside existing enterprise platforms including Decision Support System, to design and implement scalable, high-performance data pipelines and architectures. You will work collaboratively within a dynamic and fast-paced reporting unit, responding to urgent data requests with efficiency and accuracy. A key part of your role will be to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, while ensuring that data models and solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with organisational needs.
About you
We are seeking an experienced data engineering professional who can:
- Actively engage in hands-on technical work, including coding, debugging, and optimizing complex data processes. You will bring deep expertise in Databricks and Azure services to design and manage effective data solutions.
- Apply a structured and strategic approach to building and maintaining data architectures, ensuring alignment with evolving business requirements.
- Develop descriptive and predictive models to uncover historical insights and generate actionable forecasts to inform decision-making.
- Undertake research to proactively address challenges and ensure solutions are grounded in industry best practice.
- Review and evaluate implemented data systems to identify discrepancies, improve efficiency, and ensure data integrity.
