What you'll do 

As the Finance manager, you will be involved in investigating and resolving complex financial issues by providing support, evaluating existing policies, and implementing best practices to ensure the effective operation of the division. A key responsibility is leading the preparation of monthly and annual variance analyses to support informed decision-making. The position also requires the use of information technology and financial systems to monitor, investigate, and analyse general ledger integrity issues, with a focus on ensuring compliance and implementing corrective measures as needed.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Knowledge of end-to-end internal budget and financial accounting processes, deliverables, and responsibilities as they relate to Queensland Health and the ability to apply that knowledge in leading the divisions financial compliance.   
  • Demonstrated high level expertise in the use of financial applications, together with experience in the research, review, interpretation, and analysis of financial data to formulate reports and provide robust recommendations to management. 
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with personnel at all levels in the organisation, including staff with limited financial knowledge. 
  • Demonstrated high level experience with continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of financial management and demonstrated ability to work within and contribute significantly towards successful teams. 
  • High-level problem solving and issues management skills in a large organisation with fiscal restraints and competing demands.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with relevant legislation, policies, and standards, with the ability to interpret, advise and apply the requirements of relevant legislation, policies and standards relating to financial management in the public sector.
