What you'll do
To assist in the provision of an effective and efficient Specimen Reception and Phlebotomy service in the Thursday Island Laboratory and to ensure that all laboratory practices comply with Pathology Queensland requirements.  Assist in the pre-analytical sample preparation, data entry and the efficient and effective referral of samples to other laboratories within Pathology Queensland.

About you
We are searching for someone who has:

  • A working knowledge of or demonstrated ability to quickly learn all aspects of pre-analytical specimen processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.
  • Demonstrated data entry skills and in the use of Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively use or quickly acquire the ability to use the laboratory information system (Auslab). 
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective interaction within a work group and between clients.
  • Work in a manner displaying integrity; complying with ethical and behavioural standards, respecting patient confidentiality and the importance of patient results.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member to achieve organisational goals
