What you'll do
Assist in the effective operation of laboratory service, mainly phlebotomy, within Redland Hospital and Princess Alexandra Group by participating in phlebotomy collections and general preanalytical duties specifically relating to the Central Specimen Reception (CSR) Department. To assist in the provision of an effective Pathology service including Phlebotomy and Specimen Reception for the Redland Hospital Laboratory.

About you
We are searching for someone who:

  • Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology test names and specimen types.
  • Availability to work all shifts on the existing and future roster patterns, ability to undertake additional shifts to backfill holiday and sick leave.
  • A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, all aspects of pre analytical specimen processing (CSR). Data entry skills and the use of MS Word and Excel a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with and without supervision, ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines, ability to effectively use, or quickly acquire ability to use, the Laboratory Information System.
  • An established history of positive teamwork and respectful behaviour. High level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective, cooperative interaction within a work group and between clients.
