Pathology Queensland are looking for a Clinical Assistant to join their Immunology Department. In this role you will provide assistance to scientific and technical staff, thus contributing to the provision of quality patient management and to assist other staff of the Immunology Laboratory in providing an efficient and high-quality service to the laboratory’s clients.

What you'll do

• Use and maintain equipment correctly, reporting damages/faults promptly.
• Collect specimens from reception.
• Prepare samples for analysis and storage.
• Prepare basic solutions under the direction of scientific staff and perform technical tasks under supervision.
• Record temperatures of freezers, cold room, incubators, water baths or others as indicated.
• Monitor stock levels of consumable items as required.
• Ensure your compliance with the correct use and storage of chemicals and hazardous substances, and identify and report hazards in a timely manner.

About you

We are searching for someone who has: 

• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise workloads.
• Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with or without direct supervision.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team.
• An awareness of the need for a high standard of performance in all aspects of work in a medical laboratory and a commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
• Compliance with and utilisation of human resource management requirements and practices, including workplace, health and safety, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination requirements.
• While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded.
