What's involved – To provide specialised renal nursing skills and services in the Central West Renal Unit at Longreach Hospital, Central West Hospital and Health Service (CWHHS).
Central West Renal Unit will provide sustainable and integrated renal services in a networked approach to care delivery underpinned by a collaborative partnership with Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS). As the only Clinical Services Capability Framework Level five facility within CQHHS and CWHHS, the Rockhampton Renal Unit, as the hub of the CQHHS Renal Service will provide renal support to CWHHS inclusive of the Longreach Dialysis Unit. Longreach will be included within the existing CQHHS satellite haemodialysis service model, supporting sustainability, feasibility and equitable access to kidney care for the peoples of both HHSs.
The clinical nurse (nurse grade 6) provides expert clinical knowledge and renal nursing care for consumers with End Stage Renal Failure requiring haemodialysis and supports the objectives of the Central West Renal Service through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence-based person focused care, education, leadership.
