Digital Metro North (DMN) works collaboratively with Metro North Health (MNH) clinical leads and end users to deliver the digital transformation strategy for Metro North Health. It will ultimately create an integrated digital hospital and healthcare environment across Metro North. In meeting this strategy significant capital works are being undertaken over the next five years that includes hospital construction/refurbishment and the implementation of ieMR Advanced solution across Metro North. Delivering this will require a dedicated team, with the capacity to work across initiatives and domains, with the knowledge, determination, skills and experience to deliver.

Metro North Health invites you to apply for a Temporary Full-time Principal Solution Architect position, available until 28 June 2026, where your skills will directly contribute to the advancement of digital healthcare across Queensland.

As a Solution Architect within our Digital Portfolio Services team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, guiding, and implementing systems that support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient healthcare services.
About the Role
In this role you will lead the design of fit for purpose solution architectures, that address the business problems and opportunities articulated by Metro North Health business areas and consider the concerns of all architectural domains to ensure alignment with the Department of Health (DoH) Enterprise Architecture directives, policies and standards.
You will report directly to the Director of Digital Portfolio Services within Digital Metro North and collaborate closely with the Manager of Architecture & Design within Digital Portfolio Services (DPS), playing a key role in shaping strategic digital initiatives across the organisation.
Key knowledge and experience
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated expertise in the development of architectures for complex IT systems, ensuring consistency with and traceability across specified requirements within enterprise architecture and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in the multiple technology domains to architectural standards, decisions, direction, standardisation and professional advice in the following field:
- Cloud Technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Infrastructure Technologies (e.g. VMware, Active Director, Networks)
- Security Technologies (e.g. Firewalls and VPN)
- Proven high-level expertise and experience in applying architectural principles in terms of scalability, resiliency, security, cost, automation, and management and monitoring.
- Proven ability to promote and ensure the use of solution architecture techniques, methodologies and tools ensuring consistency within the team.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment, fostering effective working relationships built on Metro North Health's values that support, nurture and coach the desired behaviours of other DMN staff.
- Proven ability to work under minimal supervision, taking responsibility for delivering outcomes and managing expectations.
