Expressions of Interest are invited for the flagship Middle Leader program.
The Education Futures Institute (EFI) is a key system initiative supporting the department's Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student strategy.
- EFI empowers educators, school leaders and departmental staff to build professional expertise through high-quality, targeted capability development across their careers.
- EFI delivers flagship programs offering comprehensive professional learning at key career stages, grounded in professional standards and contemporary research.
- EFI co-designs and delivers programs with internal and external experts — including academic, tertiary and industry leaders — aligned to current and emerging strategic and workforce priorities.
Middle Leader - Targeted Professional Development
The flagship Middle Leader program develops your expertise in leading improvement through contemporary educational research, contextualised leadership experiences, professional networks, and mentoring opportunities.
Over a 12 month period, you will engage in:
- Intensive face-to-face workshops,
- Mentoring (including site visits),
- Network learning, and
- Self-paced modules.
- Successful applicants start in Term 1, 2026.

Applicants must obtain principal endorsement before submitting an application.
Mandatory Requirements
- Permanent teacher or school leader with the Queensland Department of Education
- Currently holds a school-based middle leadership position (Classification Stream 2: H01-H02)
- Fully registered with the QLD College of Teachers
- Endorsed by current principal (via signed endorsement form)
