An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and flexible educator to join the leadership team at Lockyer District State High School.
We are seeking a Head of Department to lead our faculty of Business, Vocational Education and Training (VET) and
Information Communication Technology (ICT).
You will play a vital role in developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

This is a temporary full-time position from 14 July 2025 until 19 September 2025, with possibility of extension.

Lockyer District High School is a school of around 1000 students, located in Gatton in the picturesque Lockyer Valley, approximately one hour from Brisbane and 30 minutes from Toowoomba.

About the Role
As the Head of Department (Business, VET and ICT) your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the Business, VET and ICT curriculum areas within our school.
- Lead teaching staff to provide quality learning outcomes for all students
- Lead continuous school improvement aligned to our school's strategic priorities.
- Undertake the VET RTO Manager role ensuring our school / RTO maintains compliance.
As an instructional leader, you will be focused on ensuring all students develop their global competencies so they can transition into the future workforce with confidence and resilience.
As the Head of Department (Business, VET and ICT) you will be required to demonstrate, your previous success with:
- Designing curriculum and cross curricula learning experiences that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum V9, VET and QCAA.
- Engaging students in skill development through authentic learning experiences.
- Engaging with the wider school community to nurture quality positive relationships between students, parents, teachers and stakeholders across the school and wider community.
- Managing the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the faculty to achieve goals.
