In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of inclusive schooling practices, including the enhancement of capacity building methodologies and the professional learning needs of specialist regional staff. Darling Downs South West Region is seeking someone with knowledge and capability to provide strategic and operational advice to the senior leadership teams on the delivery of specialist regional services that assist inclusive schooling practices for students with diverse learning needs.

About the Role:

A rewarding opportunity exists in the Darling Downs South West Region for a short term, temporary Principal Education Officer, Student Services.

Darling Downs South West regional officers work across the region, in response to school and regional priorities and in collaboration with their colleagues statewide. The core responsibility of every officer is to support school leaders and specialist staff to improve attendance, engagement and achievement of students with diverse needs by developing capability in teaching, managing resources, intentionally collaborating and progressing successful transitions.

Every regional position requires a sound understanding of the department's strategic priorities, working knowledge of relevant policy advice and research, and demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating to address challenges and achieve lasting improvement.

This fixed-term temporary position is based at the Darling Downs South West Region Toowoomba office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, monitor and promote capacity building systems and programs to support inclusive schooling practices
  • Providing strategic and operational advice to regional leaders and staff to ensure all students achieve high quality educational outcomes
  • Undertake the day to day professional supervision and management of school support staff
  • Co-ordinate the creation and maintenance of reports and documentation relating to network support and services
