Miles State High School is seeking a dynamic Head of Department (Curriculum) who is highly motivated, and willing to lead the shared vision of improving student learning outcomes.

Who We Are:

Miles State High School is located at the northern end of Pine Street, Miles.

The school draws students from the town of Miles and surrounding rural areas. We have a number of small feeder schools from the townships of Condamine, Drillham, Dulacca, Guluguba and Wandoan.

As the Head of Department - Curriculum Teaching and Learning you will play a vital role in developing quality of teaching and learning, a positive culture and solid strategic practices for managing resources to achieve positive student learning outcomes at Miles State High School.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead curriculum areas or whole-school programs to create and commit to a shared vision focused on high-quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just and inclusive practices into everyday school life while upholding high standards for student achievement and staff performance.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development to continually strengthen leadership and teaching practice.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with students, parents, government agencies, and community groups to support student success.
  • Take a strategic, future-focused approach by understanding relevant legislation and policies, and effectively managing human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve school goals.

Relocation expenses may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Subsidised departmental accommodation is available for eligible applicants and remote incentives apply.

The Perfect Fit:

  • The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of, and capacity to lead the implementation of both the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA curriculum across the school.
  • The successful candidate will also lead the implementation of literacy improvement and Reading through the Australian Curriculum across the school. An ability to build and sustain productive relationships with all stakeholders is vital.
