We’re seeking a compassionate, reliable Teacher Aide to assist in the classroom, foster positive learning experiences, and help every student reach their potential.

Toowoomba West Special School aims to provide a supportive learning environment where individual students achieve educational outcomes to assist them in their transition to their secondary education and, ultimately, their post school life. 

Our main campus is located at 26 Gladstone Street and provides specialist education and support services for students from Prep to Year 6 who have an Intellectual Disability and may also have physical, visual, hearing impairments or autism spectrum disorder. 

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

Permanent Position Working hours:  Monday - Friday 8:15am - 3:30pm (6hrs + 12.5%)

Responsibilities include:

  • Support students individually and in small groups to work towards Individual Behaviour Support Plan, Individual Curriculum Plan and Targeted Support Plan goals under the direction of Teachers
  • Prepare classroom resources under the direction of Teachers
  • Supervise individuals and small groups of students as directed by Teachers
  • Complete required health related training to support and supervise individual students as required.
  • Assist with health related needs of students including but not limited to administering medication, feeding, toileting (training required).

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and can build strong working relationships and rapport with a diverse range of people.
  • High level of energy to move around the classroom and play areas with children.
  • Professional respect for privacy and confidentiality for student and family information.
