Our school was established in 1905 and offers an innovative and comprehensive education for Prep to Year 6 with an enrolment of approximately 220 students.
The school is located in the picturesque rural area of the South Burnett.

Principal Initiative Special School Purpose:
Murgon State School is a Partnership Initiative (PI) school, receiving prioritised support and resourcing to provide locally responsible, flexible, integrated and tailored strategies co-designed with community.
Under the current Partnership Initiative special purpose classification uplift, this substantive Level 3 role is temporarily remunerated at Level 5 until December 2026.
This uplift arrangement is intended to attract and retain school leaders who can drive improvements in learning and life outcomes through a system wide approach across Partnership Initiative schools and communities.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on
- Providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
