Warwick West State School is searching for a diligent and proactive Cleaner to join their school. School cleaners play a vital role in the school community by maintaining high standards of cleaning practices and ensuring the appearance of the school is of a high standard. It is the responsibility of school cleaners to deliver a clean and hygienic learning environment for all students. This position is being offered in a Permanent Part-Time capacity (0.67FTE), 51 hours per fortnight.

About the Role:

As the Cleaner you will:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support.
  • Ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by their supervisor, in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.
  • The Cleaner, reports to the school Principal or nominated delegate. 

Your responsibilities:

  • Clean classrooms, offices, toilets, sick bays, common areas and outdoor areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, buffing, polishing and cobweb control.
  • Dispose of rubbish and assist with litter control.
  • Clean windows, furniture, fittings, and equipment.
  • Remove graffiti and ensure high standards of hygiene and general presentation across the school.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with building security, including locking and unlocking facilities.
  • Report maintenance, safety, and security concerns as required.

About You:

You will be reliable, have effective time management skills, a high attention to detail and be committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. You must have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of departmental cleaning policies, practices and procedures used in schools. Previous cleaning experience is desirable. The role may involve a range of physical duties, including lifting, bending, prolonged periods of standing and walking, and accessing different areas of the school, including stairways.
