The role of Head of Department Student Services works as part of a wider student support team to lift improvement in student attendance, engagement, behaviour and academic achievement.

The role requires the successful applicant to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

The roles monitors key student data sets and develops and maintains strategies, processes and programs to improve them.

As part of the role, the successful applicant will work closely with students, parents, Wellbeing and Engagement Coordinators, House Leaders and other clasified officers in the school as well the wider support and case management team to improve the educational experience for students.

The role reports to the Deputy Principal of Junior Secondary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Where requested, prepare all data returns for the Principal.
  • Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals.
  • Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
