Your opportunity
This exciting leadership opportunity will suit a passionate and innovative educator committed to fostering inclusive practices and improving outcomes for all students.
- You will work collaboratively with three cluster schools, providing targeted support and advice in relation to inclusive education and reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- While this cross-school work forms an important component of the role, it represents a relatively small proportion of the overall responsibilities, allowing the successful applicant to maintain a strong presence within our school community.
- You will lead the Special Education Unit and work alongside classroom teachers and the broader learning support team to ensure students are supported to achieve their full potential. Together, this team works to develop innovative and responsive approaches that support student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement.
About the Role
As Head of Special Education Services (HOSES), you will play a key leadership role in promoting a culture of inclusion and excellence across the school.
- The position includes a teaching load of 0.8 FTE; however, this may be negotiated to enable the successful candidate to effectively fulfil the leadership responsibilities of the role. Consistent with departmental expectations, the HOSES teaching load will be considered when determining the scope and implementation of responsibilities within the school.
- Importantly, while the HOSES provides specialist leadership in inclusive education, inclusion is a shared, whole-school responsibility. The successful applicant will build staff capability through coaching, collaboration, professional learning, and strategic leadership.
You will work in close collaboration with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including:
- Learning Support Teacher
- Guidance Officer
- Chaplain
- Deputy Principals
- Principal
- Family Support Officer
- Speech Language Pathologist
- Calm Classroom Teacher
