We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the Principal and ensuring the effective administration of our school. As Business Manager, you will lead the
delivery of corporate services across human resources, finance, facilities management and administration. Working closely with the Principal and a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will provide expert advice, identify practical solutions to business challenges, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day
operations of the school.
This is a Temporary Part-Time (0.68 FTE) position until 31 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the School
Goombungee State School opened on 1 November 1881, with an enrolment of 17 with Annie McLeod Rowland as teacher. Today, Goombungee State School is a Prep to Year 6, co-educational school, with approximately 100 students. We are located in a beautiful rural setting, 46km's north of Toowoomba. Our school motto "Working together" and school values of Co-operation, Achievement, Responsibility, and Excellence (CARE) form the basis of everything we do. We CARE about each and every student and work together to ensure that every day, every child in every classroom is accessing quality education.
Your Role
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the day-to-day administration of the school, overseeing office operations, record management, reporting systems, correspondence, appointments, and the effective use of school management platforms to support efficient business operations.
- Supervise and support school support staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, induction, training, workload management, leave administration, relief arrangements, and performance monitoring in collaboration with the Principal.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the school budget and financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, banking, corporate card monitoring, and financial reporting to support informed decision-making.
- Coordinate the management of school facilities, assets, resources and technology, including maintenance, repairs, minor works projects, asset registers, and liaising with contractors and technical support providers to ensure a safe and functional learning environment.
- Prepare and manage a range of school documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, newsletters, policy documents, annual reports and correspondence, ensuring accuracy, professionalism and compliance with school requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents, community members and departmental stakeholders, providing high-quality advice, problem-solving support and administrative leadership while ensuring compliance with legislative, policy and corporate service requirements.
