An opportunity is available for a School Officer with responsibility for grounds and facilities. This role involves the effective management and organisation of the school’s scenic grounds, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard and continue to enhance the school’s natural charm. The school features substantial landscaped areas and gardens that contribute to its scenic setting.
In addition to grounds maintenance, the successful applicant will be responsible for the upkeep of school buildings and infrastructure, including identifying maintenance needs and coordinating repair notifications. The role also involves the inspection and weekly maintenance of a small agricultural area used as a teaching resource, which is separate from the main grounds and facilities.
This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.60FTE), 46 hours per fortnight

About our School:
Bell State School is a charming K to Year 10 school situated in the Darling Downs South West Region. Nestled at the base of the picturesque Bunya Mountains, the school is located approximately 90 minutes north-west of Toowoomba and 35 kilometres north of Dalby.
As a small rural school, Bell State School offers a supportive and close-knit community environment. The school maintains a strong commitment to student achievement, wellbeing, and personalised learning. Classrooms are characterised by engaged and motivated students, supported by both staff and the wider community to participate in vibrant, purposeful learning experiences.
The school operates as a whole-school environment, with teaching and learning organised across three cohorts:
- Kindergarten to Year 3
- Year 4 to Year 6
- Junior Secondary (Years 7–10)
About the Role:
As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.
You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain school grounds, gardens, sporting facilities and outdoor spaces to a high standard.
- Undertake general maintenance, minor repairs and coordinate facility upkeep.
- Support school operations through event setup, mail, stock control, security and asset management.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Liaise with staff, contractors and the school community to support the safe and efficient operation of the school.
